Board Preparation
- Choose a sturdy board or canvas at least 10 mm (1 cm) thick.
- Transfer the Nail Placement Template and mark pin positions.
- Pre-drill shallow pilot holes for hardwoods to avoid splitting.
Nail placement template starts on page 15.
Layout & Pin Tips
- Divide the circumference into equal segments: angle 1.80 (spacing 4.2 mm).
- Keep nails at least 5 mm from the board edge for strength.
- Highlight every 10th nail with a marker for easier navigation.
Construction Tips
- Work in bright, shadow-free lighting so you can clearly see pins and crossings.
- Keep a steady, even tension on the string for a consistent feel.
